Key Home Appliance Firms location in Shunde 2010

The rapid growth of the home appliance industry is notably led by a small group ofcompetitive local fifirms rather than FIEs or a large number of small enterprises. By2010, the top 15 home appliance fifirms in Shunde accounted for about 25% of the totalindustrial output value. Twelve of them were local fifirms, while only two of them wereFIEs (SDSB 2010). Meanwhile, over 40 local brands have been certifificated as NationalFamous Brands/Trademarks3 in domestic markets. Nine local fifirms have listed indomestic public stock markets with hundreds of billon yuan market values. These keyfifirms are evenly located in different towns within Shunde and surrounded by hundredsof local and foreign suppliers, constituting a competitive industrial cluster (see Figure 3).
